Joseph (“J.R.”) Casillas is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He went to law school at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He is admitted to practice in Montana federal and state courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

During law school, he was a member of the Creighton University School of Law ABA Regional Negotiation Team which competed in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Notable Cases

Successful resolution of civil rights action against City of Billings and Billings Police Department for wrongful shooting of client.

Successfully obtained a complete defense verdict for clients accused of operating a “nuisance” industrial fabrication plant near Victor, Montana.

Successfully obtained summary judgement for developer client whose development project was challenged by the Human Resource Council on a variety of legal and equitable grounds, and subsequently settled counterclaim out-of-court.
